Three New Years, One Fire

There's a moment you need to sit with before we get into the gates and the transits and the channels.

On March 20, 2026, three calendars reset simultaneously. The Persian New Year — Nowruz — began at the exact moment the Sun crossed 0° Aries. The Islamic calendar marked Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan's month of fasting. And the Human Design year turned over, starting a new cycle in Gate 25.

Three traditions. Three beginnings. Three invitations to start fresh.

And on that day, Iranian drones struck Kuwait's Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery — the country's largest, processing 730,000 barrels per day — for the second day in a row. Fires broke out across multiple units. The International Energy Agency declared it the "largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market."

Three new years. One fire.

The Weaponization of Sacred Time

This is what stops me cold about this event. Not the military strategy. Not the oil prices. The timing.

Iran struck Kuwait on its own New Year. Kuwait was hit during Eid — the most joyful day on the Islamic calendar, when families gather after a month of fasting. And the Human Design cycle opened with a refinery burning.

There's a word for this: desecration. Using the holiest moment of your own calendar as a weapon against your neighbor's holiest moment.

Gate 25 — the gate active on this day — is called Innocence or Spirit of the Self. Its deepest teaching is about being without agenda. Pure spirit. No manipulation.

The shadow of Gate 25 is when "spirit" becomes "strategic." When sacred timing becomes tactical advantage. When you turn the day of Innocence into the day you attack, precisely because your enemy's guard is down during celebration.

That's the cruelest inversion of Gate 25's energy imaginable.

What Was Burning

Mina Al-Ahmadi isn't just infrastructure. It's the physical manifestation of what the modern Gulf depends on — the conversion of raw material into economic life. When that refinery burns, it's not an abstract commodity disruption. It's the engine of a civilization on fire.

Venus in Gate 51 (Shock) activated the same day. Venus governs what we value. Gate 51 is the thunderbolt that strikes without warning. Venus in Gate 51 = what we VALUE being shocked. Oil — the literal lifeblood of the global economy — was the thing being struck.

The Channel of Initiation (25-51) was fully active through Sun and Venus. This channel connects spirit (Gate 25) to shock (Gate 51). Together they say: you will be initiated through disruption, and the disruption is the teacher.

Iran was initiating the Gulf states into a new reality: your energy infrastructure is vulnerable. Your oil — the thing you've built your entire civilization around — can burn.

The Control Question

The Moon moved through Gate 21 — The Hunter / Control during the morning of the strike.

Gate 21 is the energy of taking control of the material realm. "Biting Through" in the I Ching — the jaw that bites through obstacles to seize what it needs.

This entire conflict distills to a Gate 21 question: who controls the energy?

The US wants the Strait of Hormuz open. Control through force projection.
Iran wants leverage over the Strait. Control through denial.
Gulf states want their refineries intact. Control through security guarantees that just failed.
The global economy wants $60 oil. Control it can't have.

Drone strikes biting through refinery defenses. The jaw of Gate 21, made literal.

The Terrible Clarity

The Earth sat in Gate 47 — Realization / Oppression. The gate where the mind cycles through confusion and suddenly — with devastating clarity — understands.

The IEA's declaration — "largest supply disruption in oil market history" — IS Gate 47. The moment of terrible clarity. Bigger than 1973. Bigger than 1990. This is the worst it's ever been.

Goldman Sachs warning that elevated prices could persist through 2027 is the oppressive weight of Gate 47's truth: this isn't temporary. The Earth grounding us in the physical reality of smoke, fire, shutdown.

And this cascades. Cuba's grid collapse — three months without oil deliveries, 11 million people in darkness, protesters torching Communist Party headquarters — is a direct downstream consequence of this refinery burning. The energy war in the Gulf becomes starvation in the Caribbean. Gate 47's realization expanding outward in concentric circles of suffering.

Mercury Retrograde and the Broken Alliances

Mercury retrograde in Gate 37 (Friendship / Agreements) adds a critical dimension.

Gate 37 is the gate of agreements within a community — the unspoken contracts that hold families and tribes together. The Gulf states are a tribe: Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE. Their implicit agreement was mutual security through American protection.

Mercury retrograde in Gate 37: the old agreements are being revealed as inadequate. The security guarantees didn't stop the drones. The mutual defense pacts didn't prevent the fire. Every alliance in the region is being stress-tested, and the retrograde energy says: look at what was never actually agreed upon.

Jupiter Expanding the Scope

Jupiter in Gate 53 (Development / Beginning) at the Root Center quietly expands everything it touches.

Gate 53 is the gate of new beginnings — the pressure to start new cycles. Jupiter here says this isn't a bilateral skirmish. This is the beginning of a new phase: the transformation of a US-Iran conflict into a regional energy war that touches every economy on Earth.

The beginning of the end of cheap oil? Jupiter in Gate 53 doesn't answer — it just makes the question bigger.

The Three Calendars

Here's what haunts me most.

The Persian calendar, the Islamic lunar calendar, and the astrological/HD calendar almost never align. They run on different systems — solar, lunar, and sidereal. For all three to reset on the same day is astronomically rare.

And that day was marked by fire.

In Human Design, the start of a new cycle is supposed to be a clean reset. Gate 25 — Innocence — is the energy of beginning without baggage, without strategy, without the weight of what came before.

Instead, the first day of the new cycle began with the largest energy disruption in human history. The innocence of three new years desecrated by the strategic calculation of warfare.

Gate 25's deepest teaching asks: can you find innocence even here? Even in the fire? Even when sacred time is weaponized?

That might be the only question that matters for 2026.
